Getting started with Formiq
Formiq is a SketchUp extension that lets you generate complete cabinets in a few clicks. Choose a cabinet type, adjust dimensions, carcass construction, shelves, doors and back panels – Formiq builds a clean, well-structured model for you.
1. Installation
- Go to the Sketchup Extension Warehouse
- Search for Formiq
- Click the button Try or purchase…
- The installation will start, confirm to continue.
- After installation, you’ll find Formiq under Extensions ▸ Formiq and in the toolbar.
2. First launch
- Open SketchUp and choose Extensions ▸ Formiq ▸ Settings.
- Select your language, units and default board thickness.
- Click Save – Formiq is now ready to generate cabinets.
Generate your first cabinet in seconds...
- Open Formiq – Cabinet generator.
- Select a cabinet type: tall cabinet, bookcase or sideboard.
- Set width, height, depth and construction type.
- Add dividers, doors, back panel and plinth/base if needed.
- Configure interior: fixed shelf + adjustable shelves.
- Click Generate cabinet – Formiq draws the complete model.
Key features
Parametric cabinet generator
Formiq creates fully parametric cabinets: change dimensions and settings at any time and generate a new cabinet in seconds. Ideal for kitchen designers, interior builders and furniture makers.
Carcass construction options
Choose from multiple carcass constructions (bottom/top between sides, sides between bottom/top, sides on bottom, etc.). Formiq automatically adapts part sizes and positions based on your selection.
Dividers, doors & back panel
- Configurable number of dividers (vertical panels).
- 1–4 doors per cabinet, with custom door thickness.
- Back panel: inset between carcass or placed behind the cabinet.
- Smart splitting of large back panels into two parts when needed.
Interior & shelves
- Optional fixed shelf at a specific height.
- Additional shelves above or below the fixed shelf.
- Automatic vertical spacing for shelves.
- All shelves sized per bay when dividers are used.
Plinth / base
- Choose between no base, plinth, or full base (“sokkel”).
- Control height, inset and thickness.
Languages & units
- Languages: English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish.
- Units: millimetres or inches.

Free trial
You can try Formiq for 14 days for free. During the trial, all features are available. If you decide to continue using Formiq after the trial, simply purchase a license key.

- SketchUp 2025 or newer (desktop version).
- Windows or macOS supported by SketchUp.
- Internet connection for download and updates.
